Ras Malai Cravings in Islamabad

If you are searching for best bakery in Islamabad chances, are you will hear two names, Tehzeeb Bakery or Fresco Bakery. If you are a curious person like me, you would want to explore more options other than these well-known ones. Well, you will be surprised to know that this city actually has a lot of options for your sweet tooth. There is actually a bakery named sweet tooth!

Searching for options for local bakery, one often come across anxiety related to hygiene and quality. Somehow, the local bakeries fail to comply the standards of the branded bakery shops and often lag in service quality, food quality or the neatness of the place. However, Islamabad is one of the neat cities of Pakistan and so we expect to see a lot of local bakery shops with exceptional cleanliness. Of course, they are competing with giants like Tehzeeb and Fresco Bakers, so they should gain competitive advantage using exceptionally hygienic business model.

In Islamabad, you would find options for deserts that are mind blowing. From the daredevil of BLT to the Hit Me Cake of Street 1 Café, you would have your sweet cravings satisfied with one of the most mouth-watering recipes of these places. However, sometimes one just craves for a desi style sweet dish to satisfy our sugar cravings.

CRAVING RAS MALAI

I found myself craving for Ras Malai and that is where the hunt began. Ras malai is a dairy delicacy with soft balls of malai made up of cheese soaked in sweetened milk garnished with pistachio. It is sweet white dish which is exquisite and light. The malai balls have to be cooked so that they are tender, not too hard to not absorb the sweetened milk and not too soft to absorb too much of the sweetened milk to collapse and lose shape. There are even instant ras malai packets available, but I was craving for something expert made.

FIRST EVER RAS MALAI - JAMIL SWEETS

For my very first try of the best dessert in Islamabad, I tried Ras Malai of Jaml Sweets. This bakery is located at Jinnah Avenue blue area. They served us a cup of Ras Malai with a spoon neatly placed in a try. It costed RS. 180. There were two malai balls dipped in the sweetened milk. The malai were tender and the milk was sweet. I enjoyed that a lot. Jamil Sweets is a good option to explore for sweets and bakery savory items by the way. It is clean with serving staff that also takes your order from car and you can enjoy your sweets in the car as well.

SECOND TRY FOR RAS MALAI - EMAN DHAKA SWEETS

For my second try, I was searching for best bakery in Islamabad to serve ras malai but honestly my options got limited because I was in blue area. I used digital aid this time and searched for Ras Malai on foodpanda app. I found one option only in Aabpara, Eman Dhaka Sweets. Rs. 180 plus Rs. 60 for delivery charges were paid for this Ras Malai. I like that the bakery had better serve than Jamil Sweets for the same price. They served their Ras Malai in a rantangular box with a bit more milk and two Ras Malai. The sweet dish was tender and worth enjoying. I found Eman Dhaka Sweet Ras Malai tastier than Jamil Sweets.

Jamil Sweets quantity was less so I would rate it 7/10 while Eman Dhaka Sweets Ras Malai is 8/10 in taste and serving size. I am sure there are more options to explore but if you are in Blue Area and craving for desi desserts, for sure you can check these two bakeries. Even though Tehzeeb Bakeruy and Fresco Bakery are also in the same locality, if you want to try some lesser famous, hygienic places then give Jamil Sweets and Eman Dhaka Sweets a try. They are fine bakeries for value and good price. Plus, they offer delicious Ras Malai.
