About Jessi's Burger
A joint ownership between the two Jaswal brothers, and Yasir Siddiqui led to the incarnation of Jessi's burger. Other than being a hot burger spot, the place is an opportunity for the young striving artists to perform in the regular jam sessions hosted by the brand, as per Yasir Jaswal statement to the Tribune newspaper.
“I know what it feels like to be a striving artist in this city looking for a place to perform. However, before everything else, it is a burger joint and we want to serve great burgers at an affordable price to the city they call 'the city of burgers' and the city we love so dearly," he added.
How I Ended Up at Jessi's?
Other than KFC, which is available in all cities mostly, this is the first burger
in Islamabad that I have tried. Frankly speaking, for someone who is more of a
desi food fan, burgers are not something I crave or look forward to. Well, you
all have your own meal preferences, so I am here to try out all options of fine
dining, and eat outs in Islamabad so that you all newbies have a lot of
information to start your food expeditions in Islamabad.
We ended up at Jessi's because my friend and I were looking for eat out options post classes on Saturday and while one of us had severe craving for burgers, we went to Jessi's in F7. Surprisingly, the cafe is small. The restaurant is literally sandwiched between Syrian Shawarma, Burgers Shakes and More on its left while a clothing local shop on its right. The Burgers, Shakers and More is a big restaurant hogging more of the space and it offers its open air set up in the lawn in front of it. Since Jessi's specialty is burgers, I was surprised to see the setup of Jessi's restaurant in comparison to the ones that are opened left to it. Anyways, Umair Jaswal is a celebrity, and I am sure that attracting customers for this fast-food place must not be a problem based on word of mouth.
Ambiance
We had to climb the staircase where we entered a very cozy ambiance. However, the first thing that I found
disturbing was the staircase to Jessie's main floor which is a narrow metallic
staircase with a low ceiling which is a bit challenging for a tall person to
carefreely walk through. However, its beautiful when you reach the serving area. Entrance has a notice board with a lot of polaroid pictures of celebrities who had experienced the food at Jessi's.
The place has colorful graffiti on its walls. One of my favorite wall was this corner which had a social media marketing touch to it by having the hashtag to Jessi's painted on it so that the customers who had come to enjoy their meals here at this restaurant would post their burgers and steaks and tag Jessi's. Creative and on point.
Our Order
We ordered a BBQ Chicken Burger and a Beef Grand Burger with fresh lime. The serving was in 20 minutes approx. This gave us plenty of time to soak in the ambiance which was dim lighted, not very vibrant but very fun, artistic kind of place which an in house and terrace set up. We preferred to be served in house because of the cold. The waiter severed our burgers in a wooden try with a bucket of French fries. The fries were very crispy with a spicy seasoning that were hard to resist. The size of the burger was normal but my friend who had visited the restaurant six months ago said that they had reduced the serving size. He claimed that burgers were gigantic before.
Taste
Since I ordered the chicken BBQ burger, it was loaded with sauces, a thick slice of tomato, onion and lettuce and a piece of grilled bbq chicken which had a bit of a burnt taste to it. May be they tried to smoke it which was giving the burger patty that taste. I did not complain because I was too worried on handling the burger and fitting it in my mouth.
Overall, the burger was fine except the bit of a burnt taste off that kind of bummed me a little, ambiance was good, and if anyone of you is looking for a modest burger place to try in Islamabad, give Jessi's a try. May be avoid the chicken bbq burger. Try the grand beef burger. Bon Appetit!
